How to choose
- Rated current. Size for the full load on the emergency bus.
- Poles. Select 4P when the neutral must be switched.
- Controller level. Basic DIP-setting controllers suit simple mains-generator duty. LCD controllers add settings and display.
- Transition type. Open transition breaks before make. Check the load can tolerate the gap.
- Voltage and short-circuit rating. Match to the system and fault level.
FAQ
Can an ATS start a generator?
Most ATS controllers provide a start signal contact for the generator. Confirm the controller model and its contact rating on the datasheet.
What does open transition mean?
The switch disconnects from the first source before connecting to the second. There is a short break in supply, but the two sources are never paralleled.
