FAQ

What does an AFDD protect against that an MCB does not?

An MCB reacts to overload and short circuit. An AFDD analyzes the current waveform and trips on arcing faults that stay below the MCB threshold.

Do I still need an RCD with an AFDD?

Yes, unless the device is an AFDD+RCBO type, which includes residual current protection.
