Schneider Electric XVUC9S Harmony XVU Buzzer Unit Black 60 mm 85 dB 24 V AC/DC Signal Tower

The Schneider Electric XVUC9S is a Harmony XVU buzzer unit in black, stacking onto an XVU base to add an 85 dB continuous or intermittent audible alarm to a 60 mm modular tower light. It runs on 24 V AC/DC and carries an IP54 degree of protection, drawing no more than 70 mA.

Selection Notes

At 85 dB and a fixed 2635 Hz tone, the XVUC9S is a fixed-pitch buzzer rather than the voice/tone XVUC9V sound unit, so pick it where a simple audible alert is enough and the extra power draw and size of the XVUC9V sound unit are not justified. It mounts on top of the stack (localisation: top) and counts against the 4-unit stacking limit that applies once a buzzer unit is in the assembly, one fewer than the 5-unit limit for LED-only stacks. Its black housing matches the standard XVUC21B base unit and the majority of XVUC2x LED lenses, which also ship in black as the default colour.

Applications

Buzzer units are added to a Harmony XVU stack on lines where the operator may not be looking at the tower light when a fault occurs — packaging machines, conveyor transfer points and enclosed machine cells — so the audible tone draws attention before the visual indication is even seen.
