How to choose
- Rated current and utilization category. Match the AC-22 or AC-23 duty to the load, and size for the full load current.
- Pole count. Use 4P where the neutral must be switched, for example when changing between two sources.
- Voltage and short-circuit withstand. Check the rating against the fault level at the installation point.
- Control method. Manual operation suits most panels. Choose motorized or automatic transfer when the change must happen without an operator.

FAQ
What is the difference between a switch disconnector and a circuit breaker?
A switch disconnector isolates and switches load current but gives no overcurrent protection. A circuit breaker also trips on overload and short circuit, so a protective device is normally installed upstream of the switch.
When should I use an ATS instead of a manual changeover switch?
Use an ATS when the transfer must happen automatically after a mains failure, for example to a generator. A manual changeover switch needs an operator and suits sites where short outages are acceptable.
