Because the antenna sits outside the reader housing, connected through an M8, 4-pin port with a fixed 3 m cable, the RF350R fits installations where the read point and the electronics need to be physically separated - for example, a reader mounted in a cabinet with the antenna face pointed at a conveyor gap. It supports one external antenna at a time from the ANT range. The IP65 housing rating is lower than the integrated-antenna readers in the family, so it suits indoor cabinet mounting rather than direct washdown exposure.
