The Siemens 6GT2002-0JE40 RF188C is an RFID communication module that connects 4 RF200/300/1000 or MV300/400/500 readers to PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, or OPC UA over Industrial Ethernet at 100 Mbit/s. It also provides an RS422/RS232 point-to-point serial link at up to 921.6 kbit/s per reader channel and carries IP67 protection for direct field mounting close to the read points.

Four reader ports make the RF188C the node to choose for a multi-lane sorting or tracking station, since one module and one PROFINET connection replace what would otherwise take two RF186C nodes. Up to two of the four ports can drive an RF1000 or MV300 reader instead of RF200/300; plan port assignment accordingly if the application mixes reader families on the same node.
