Schneider Electric ATS490D17Y Altivar ATS490 17A 208-690V AC 7.5 kW Soft Starter

The Schneider Electric ATS490D17Y is a three-phase Altivar Soft Starter from the ATS490 range, rated 17 A continuous (normal duty) on a 208-690 V AC supply. It starts and stops asynchronous motors up to 7.5 kW at 400 V (5.5 kW in heavy duty), using torque control instead of a fixed voltage ramp. Safe Torque Off and a native Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP port support supervised, cybersecure motor control from the same enclosure.

Selection Notes

At 17 A normal duty, the ATS490D17Y sits at the entry end of the ATS490 frame and covers motors up to 7.5 kW at 400 V without stepping up to a larger enclosure. Choose the heavy-duty rating (12 A) instead of the normal-duty figure when the load cycles frequently or starts against high inertia, since it keeps the same 400% Ie / 13 s overload margin with a lower continuous current. Applications with variable or quadratic torque, such as pumps, fans, compressors and conveyors, fit the normal-duty rating; cyclic loads like crushers and grinders should be sized on the heavy-duty current instead. For motors above 7.5 kW at 400 V, move up to the next current frame in the ATS490 range.
