Schneider Electric ATS490C21Y Altivar ATS490 210A 208-690V AC 110 kW Soft Starter

The Schneider Electric ATS490C21Y is a three-phase Altivar Soft Starter from the ATS490 range, rated 210 A continuous (normal duty) on a 208-690 V AC supply. It starts and stops asynchronous motors up to 110 kW at 400 V (90 kW in heavy duty), using torque control instead of a fixed voltage ramp. Safe Torque Off and a native Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP port support supervised, cybersecure motor control from the same enclosure.

Selection Notes

At 210 A normal duty, the ATS490C21Y covers motors up to 110 kW at 400 V; size on the heavy-duty rating (170 A) instead when the load cycles frequently or starts against high inertia, since the 400% Ie / 13 s overload window is the same but the continuous current is lower. Variable or quadratic-torque loads such as pumps, fans, compressors and conveyors fit the normal-duty figure; cyclic loads like crushers and grinders should be sized on the heavy-duty current instead. Motors above 110 kW at 400 V call for the next current frame up in the ATS490 range; motors below it can drop to the next frame down to avoid oversizing the starter.
