- Description
The Siemens 6RA8081-6DV62-0AA0 is a SINAMICS DCM DC converter built for 4-quadrant drive applications, rated 420 V DC / 400 A at the output. It is supplied from a controllable 400 V 3AC, 332 A line input through a B6A(B6)C circuit topology, with a D420/400 MREQ-GEGF6V62 field rectifier handling separate field excitation. The converter weighs 28.0 kg and is manufactured in China.

Selection Notes
The B6A(B6)C bridge circuit gives this converter 4-quadrant capability, so it drives the motor and absorbs regenerative energy during braking without a separate braking unit. The 332 A controllable line input feeding a 400 A DC output leaves headroom for the armature circuit, and the D420/400 field rectifier is dedicated to separately excited DC motor field control rather than the main armature path. Choose this unit where the load reverses direction or overhauls the motor, not for simple one-quadrant pump or fan duty.
Applications
4-quadrant DC converters of this type are used on hoists, cranes, extruders, winders, and rolling-mill drives where the motor must both drive and brake the load regeneratively. The separate field rectifier supports field-weakening control schemes common on constant-power winder and unwinder applications, and the 400 A output rating covers medium-power armature circuits without paralleling converter modules. Panel builders working on retrofits of older Siemens DC drive systems can also use the 420 V DC / 400 A rating as a direct sizing reference when matching a replacement converter to an existing DC motor's armature voltage and current.
