Selection Notes
The two-quadrant B6C topology gives controlled motoring and regenerative braking into the DC bus without a fourth quadrant, so it fits drives that need controlled deceleration rather than full four-quadrant reversing torque. The 90 A output through the D485/90 field rectifier sizes this unit for roughly 40 kW-class DC motor loads at 485 V; installations with higher current demand should look at the higher-current SINAMICS DCM converter in the same B6C family.
Applications
Thyristor-based control of separately excited DC motors in two-quadrant duty such as extruders, winders, and conveyors where controlled ramp-down is required but full regenerative reversing is not.
