MM992-4CUC is the RJ45 copper variant with a securing collar: pick it over the SFP variant when the uplink runs on twisted-pair cable and the installation needs a locked, vibration-resistant connector rather than a standard RJ45 plug. It supplies fixed copper ports at up to 1000 Mbit/s, so no separate transceiver is needed or can be swapped in. It occupies one media module slot on a modular SCALANCE X switch, so available slot count on the target chassis limits how many can be fitted per unit.
