The Siemens 6GK5992-1AQ00-8AA0 (SFP992-1ELH) is a plug-in SFP transceiver for the SCALANCE X media module slot, adding one 1000 Mbit/s optical LC port. It runs single-mode fiber on the 1000BASE-ZX link at 1550 nm and covers an extended range of 37 to 120 km. Selection Notes
The ELH tier is the longest-reach member of the SFP992 single-mode family, extending the same 1000BASE-ZX link out to 120 km, roughly 70% further than the LH+ variant's 70 km ceiling, by raising the receiver sensitivity to -32 dB. Its 8 dB minimum link attenuation and 37 km minimum range make it unsuitable for anything shorter, so reserve it for the longest inter-site backbone runs and drop to the LH or LH+ variant once the span falls under 70 km, since those transceivers cost less at the same 1000 Mbit/s bandwidth. Because the optical budget is tuned for very long spans, unused margin on shorter links has no benefit.
