The Siemens 6GK5992-1AM30-8AA0 (SFP992-1LD+) is a plug-in SFP transceiver for the SCALANCE X media module slot, adding one 1000 Mbit/s optical LC port. It runs single-mode fiber on the 1000BASE-LX link and covers a range of up to 30 km at 1310 nm. Operating temperature is -40 to +85 degrees C, and IP20 latched mounting keeps it fixed in the switch housing.

Selection Notes

The plus suffix on the SFP992-1LD+ extends the range to 30 km, three times the 10 km reach of the base SFP992-1LD in the same 1000BASE-LX family, at the cost of a lower minimum receiver sensitivity margin (-24 dB versus -19 dB). Use it when a SCALANCE X link has to bridge a distance the base single-mode SFP cannot cover, and step down to the shorter-range unit when the run is under 10 km, since the extra optical budget is not needed there. Beyond 30 km, a long-haul variant in the same SFP992 family is required instead.
