The 1310 nm single-mode optics and -8 to -15 dB transmitter output give this SFP a 26 km maximum range at 100 Mbit/s over single-mode fiber - a multi-mode SFP variant is the better choice for shorter runs where fiber cost matters more than distance. Since it ships as a pack of 10, plan spares or replacements at that unit count rather than ordering single pieces. The -40 to +85 degrees C operating range, with +85 degrees C limited to 16-hour duration, covers outdoor or unheated-cabinet installations that a standard commercial-temperature SFP would not.
