This connector is field-assembled onto the cut end of an RCoax radiating cable, which is how a tunnel or mine leaky-feeder run is extended or spliced on site rather than ordered as one continuous factory length. The 0-6 GHz range and 50 ohm impedance match it to the RCoax cable itself and to SCALANCE W IWLAN radios operating in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, and the IP67 rating lets the joint sit in the same enclosed, damp environment as the cable run.
