Selection Notes

The 6-8 dB gain roughly doubles the effective range of the lower-gain, device-mounted antennas in the same family, at the cost of needing its own roof, wall, or vehicle bracket and a feeder run back to the SCALANCE W radio rather than screwing on directly. Its female N-connector pairs with a male-terminated pigtail or cable, the opposite of the direct-mount variants that plug straight into the radio housing. The 360 degree horizontal pattern in the 2.4 GHz band narrows to 150 degrees at 5 GHz, so orientation matters more once the higher band is in use.
