Siemens 6GK5721-1FC00-0AA0 SCALANCE W721-1 RJ45 IWLAN Client 150 Mbps Industrial WLAN Access Point

The Siemens SCALANCE W721-1 RJ45 (6GK5721-1FC00-0AA0) is an IWLAN client module that bridges a wired Industrial Ethernet device to a wireless network over IEEE 802.11a/b/g/h/n at up to 150 Mbps gross data rate. It has one radio with a single R-SMA external antenna port, one 100 Mbit/s RJ45 port, and runs on 24V DC in an IP20 enclosure.

Selection Notes

The W721-1 RJ45 is the entry-level single-stream client in the SCALANCE W72x family: one radio, one antenna port, 150 Mbps. Pick the W722-1 RJ45 instead when the application needs iPCF or iPCF-MC fast client roaming built in, since the W721-1 does not list those functions. Pick the W734-1 RJ45 instead when the link needs 2x2 MIMO at 300 Mbps, a second antenna port, an integrated PoE 2-port switch, or the wider -20 to +60 degC temperature range. As a client device it is paired with an access point such as the W761-1 RJ45 on the wired side of the link.

Applications

The W721-1 RJ45 connects a single Industrial Ethernet device - a drive, an I/O station or a camera - to an existing WLAN cell where only a low-cost single-stream client link is needed, for example a fixed machine at the edge of a plant's wireless coverage.
