The SC632-2C's stateful inspection firewall and NAT/NAPT cover perimeter segmentation without a VPN license, keeping configuration to WBM/CLI firewall rules - pick it over the SC642-2C when the cell needs isolation and address translation only, not a permanent IPsec/OpenVPN tunnel to a remote site. Its two combo ports fit a single upstream/downstream link; if the cell has more connected segments to police, the SC636-2C's four extra RJ45 ports avoid stacking a switch in front of the firewall. The C-PLUG slot lets the same configuration move to a replacement unit without re-provisioning firewall rules after a hardware failure.

Applications

The SC632-2C sits at the boundary of a production cell or PROFINET segment, filtering traffic between the cell and the plant backbone while NAT/NAPT keeps cell-internal IP addressing identical across duplicated machines. The OpenVPN connection to SINEMA RC gives a maintenance engineer remote diagnostic access to the cell without exposing it directly to the corporate network.
