The Siemens SCALANCE XR552-12M (6GK5552-0AA00-2HR2) is a managed 19-inch rack Ethernet switch with 12 hot-swappable media-module ports and 4x 10 Gbit/s SFP+ uplinks, supporting up to 180 W of PoE across its rear-facing ports. It ships Layer 3 prepared, so IP routing activates once a KEY-PLUG XR-500 license is added, and includes a C-PLUG for configuration swap-out.

Selection Notes
Choose the rear-port version when the switch mounts in a cabinet where all cabling runs from behind, keeping the front panel clear for the LED diagnostics and select/set button. Layer 3 prepared means IP routing (RIPv2, OSPFv2, VRRP) stays inactive until a KEY-PLUG XR-500 module is added — the Layer-3-integrated variant of this switch is the direct choice instead if routing must work without that extra license. The 4x SFP+ uplinks carry 10 Gbit/s backbone traffic while the 12 media-module ports supply PoE up to 30 W per port and 180 W total to field devices.
Applications
Managed access/aggregation switch for PROFINET or PoE-powered field devices in cabinets wired from the rear, where Layer 3 routing can be added later via KEY-PLUG XR-500.
