The XR502-32's dual AC/DC power inputs, each independently fused, let it run from a DC UPS plus an AC mains feed at the same time, so a single supply failure does not interrupt switching. With 24 SFP and 8 SFP+ ports against only 2 electrical uplinks, it is built for a fiber-heavy backbone or aggregation layer rather than a copper access switch — pick it where most connected devices already terminate on fiber media modules. The integrated redundancy manager plus support for HRP, MRP, HSR and PRP in one unit covers both classic Siemens ring topologies and zero-recovery-time schemes without an external RM module. Static and dynamic IP routing (RIPv2, OSPFv2, VRRP) lets it segment Layer 3 subnets at the aggregation point instead of hauling all traffic to a central router.
