The Siemens 6GK5528-0AA00-2HR2 SCALANCE XR528-6M is a modular managed Industrial Ethernet switch with 4 fixed SFP+ 10 Gbit/s uplinks and 6 media module slots for up to 24 further electrical, PoE or optical ports, powered from a 24 V DC supply and rated up to 180 W of Power-over-Ethernet. Ports face the rear of the 2U 19-inch rack enclosure, and it adds IEEE 1588 time synchronization alongside its integrated redundancy manager.

The 6 media module slots let this unit mix electrical, PoE and optical ports on one chassis instead of forcing a fixed port layout, so a panel builder can populate only the media types a project needs and add modules later. The 180 W PoE budget across up to 12 ports covers IP cameras or wireless access points fed straight from the switch, no separate injector. IEEE 1588 support makes this the variant to pick where devices downstream need sub-millisecond time synchronization rather than NTP/SNTP alone. This is the rear-port version; choose the front-port variant where the cabinet is cabled from the front. Layer 3 routing is prepared but inactive until a KEY-PLUG XR-500 is fitted.
