This is the copper (RJ45) version of the XM-400 port extender; the PE400-8SFP sibling adds 8 fiber SFP ports instead. Pick the PE408 for standard copper drops to field devices, and the PE400-8SFP when the run needs fiber for distance or interference reasons. Its wider operating range (-40 to +70 degrees C) and higher power draw (4.8 W versus 1.7 W) reflect the added RJ45 PHY circuitry compared with the SFP variant.
