PROFINET conformity class B with network load class III diagnostic reporting integrates the switch as a manageable network component in TIA Portal projects rather than a passive Ethernet distributor. Its 0 to +60C operating range is narrower than the compact XC-series' -40 to +70C, so an XC or XM unit fits unheated cabinets or outdoor enclosures better.
Applications
Suited to control-network backbones needing managed redundancy and diagnostics - machine-to-machine PROFINET segments in ring topology, and cabinets where SNMP-based monitoring and VLAN segmentation are part of the network design.
