The X-coding on this connector distinguishes it from D-coded M12 variants (which top out at Fast Ethernet) and A-coded variants (100 Mbit/s industrial sensor I/O): only X-coded contacts carry the pin geometry required for Cat6A 10GBASE-T. Choosing the 6GK1901-0DB50-6AA0 over the standard IE FC M12 Plug PRO 2×2 (D-coded) is mandatory wherever SCALANCE W access points or switches expose a gigabit or 10-gigabit M12 port. The axial (180°) cable outlet suits panel penetrations and cabinet gland plates where inline routing is needed; installations requiring a 90° exit should use the right-angle variant instead.
