The Siemens 6EP4231-7HB00-0AX0 is a SITOP BUF1200 buffer module that connects in parallel to the output of a 24 V DC power supply and bridges brief mains interruptions, holding a 40 A load for 300 ms or a 5 A load for up to 2.4 seconds. Because the module connects in parallel to an existing 24 V supply through push-in terminals and carries no PROFINET or system-bus dependency, it fits retrofits on any 24 V DC line, not only a Siemens PSU8600 rack. At the full 40 A rating it holds output for 300 ms; if the load drops to 5 A the same energy reserve stretches to about 2.4 seconds, and several BUF1200 units can be paralleled to multiply bridging time at higher loads. The -40 to +70 C operating range is wider than typical 24 V DIN-rail accessories, which matters for outdoor cabinets or unheated switchrooms.
