Selection Notes

The IP23 open-circuit ventilation on the 1PH8228-1AF30-2BA2 gives it a higher continuous rating in the 225 mm frame than a forced-ventilation IP55 winding, delivering 230 kW at 1500 r/min and up to 288 kW once the field-weakening range is reached on a 480 V supply. Its 25-minute thermal time constant is shorter than an IP55 sibling's, so it needs a cleaner cooling air path and leaves less margin against sustained overload. Pick the IP55 forced-ventilation version instead when the installation is dusty or exposed to washdown.
