Schneider Electric TPRST038 TeSys Island TPRST 38A AC-3 18.5kW DOL Motor Starter Module

The Schneider Electric TPRST038 is a TeSys island motor starter rated 38 A at AC-3 for direct-on-line control of motors up to 18.5 kW at 400 V (40 A at AC-1, up to 690 V). Connected through a TPRBC bus coupler, it provides thermal overload, phase-loss, phase-unbalance, and ground-current protection with a 0.76-38 A adjustable thermal setting.

Selection Notes

At 38 A AC-3 / 18.5 kW, the TPRST038 covers mid-range motor loads within the TeSys island starter line. Its overvoltage category steps down from III to II above 480 V, so at the full 690 V rating the installation needs the corresponding category-II coordination rather than the tighter cat.-III clearances used below 480 V. The 0.76-38 A adjustable thermal range and 430 A / 1 s short-time withstand current cover motor starting current without a separate overload relay, provided the upstream device is coordinated for that let-through. Move up to a higher-current island starter when the motor's full-load current exceeds 38 A at AC-3.
