- Description
The Schneider Electric LUCL12BL is a TeSys Ultra magnetic control unit that plugs into an LUB12, LUB32, or LUB38 power base to form a TeSys U starter-controller for 3-phase motors up to 5.5 kW at 400 V. It covers an adjustable rated current In of 3-12 A and provides short-circuit protection only, tripping at 14.2 x In, for use downstream of a motor drive or soft starter that already handles overload protection.

Selection Notes
At 3-12 A this is the highest-current unit in the LUCL magnetic control line, for motors beyond the LUCL05 series' 5 A ceiling. Like its lower-current siblings it drops thermal overload protection entirely in favor of short-circuit-only tripping, since it is meant to pair with a variable speed drive or soft starter that already protects the motor; the 24 V DC control voltage suits panels already standardized on a DC control bus.
Applications
TeSys U starter-controllers paired with a variable speed drive or soft starter for 3-phase motors up to 5.5 kW at 400 V in panels running a 24 V DC control supply, where the drive's own overload algorithm makes a second thermal relay redundant.
