Schneider Electric TPRSS038 TeSys Island TPRSS 38 A 18.5 kW DOL SIL Motor Starter

The Schneider Electric TPRSS038 is a TeSys island direct-on-line SIL motor starter with 3 poles (3 NO), rated 38 A AC-3 for motors up to 18.5 kW at 380-415 V. Connected through a TPRBC bus coupler, it combines thermal overload, phase-loss/unbalance/reversal, locked-rotor and ground-fault protection with load monitoring, and can reach SIL 2 / PL d when paired with a TPRSM001 safety interface module.

Selection Notes

At 38 A AC-3 it covers motors up to 18.5 kW at 400/415 V; a higher current variant in the same TPRSS range is needed for larger motors. The thermal setting range of 0.76-38 A lets a single reference cover a wide band of motor full-load currents rather than requiring an exact-match overload relay, and built-in monitoring (average/max current and voltage, switching cycles, fault counts) is available directly over the bus coupler without extra instrumentation. The SIL 2 / PL d safe-stop capability only becomes active once a TPRSM001 interface module is added on the same TeSys island segment; without it, this starter runs as a standard (non-safety) direct-on-line starter.
