- Description
The Schneider Electric LUCL12B is a TeSys U magnetic control unit giving short-circuit protection only, adjustable from 3 to 12 A. Plugged into a LUB12, LUB32, or LUB38 power base, it is intended for installations where an upstream variable speed drive or soft starter already provides motor overload protection, completing a disconnect/short-circuit function for 3-phase motors up to 5.5 kW at 400 V, controlled from a 24 V AC supply.

Selection Notes
The LUCL12B steps the magnetic-only protection range up to 3-12 A and 5.5 kW at 400 V, still with no thermal curve, since motor overload protection is assumed to already sit in the upstream drive or soft starter. Set the dial to the drive output's rated current rather than the motor's nameplate current if the two differ, as the magnetic unit only needs to clear a downstream short circuit. Use the 1.25-5 A LUCL05B equivalent below this range or an LUCA/LUCB thermal unit if the drive is removed later.
