The ELR96PD adds a frequency filter and a DC-capable control supply to the two-contact, pre-alarm design shared with its AC-only sibling, making it the choice where the supply or fault signal includes non-50/60 Hz components that would otherwise cause nuisance tripping. Specify it on control cabinets fed from a DC auxiliary supply, since the AC-only pre-alarm variant cannot be wired to 110-400 V DC. The added filtering and DC input circuitry account for its heavier 454 g weight versus the 386 g AC-only version.
