The ABB 2CDS384001R0504 is a 4-pole S300P miniature circuit breaker (S304P-C50) rated at 50 A with a Curve C tripping characteristic and a 15 kA breaking capacity at 415 V AC. It protects DIN-rail circuits against overload and short circuits according to IEC/EN 60898-1 and IEC/EN 60947-2, and carries a UL 1077 interrupting rating of 10 kA at 480Y/277 V AC.

Selection Notes

At the top of the S304P-C current range, the 50 A rating carries only 15 kA Icn at 415 V AC - lower than the 20-25 kA held by the smaller frames in the same family - so check that the prospective short-circuit current at the board does not exceed 15 kA, or back it up with a current-limiting device upstream. Curve C's 5-10 x In magnetic trip threshold still fits loads with moderate inrush such as small motors or transformers. The 4-pole configuration switches all three phases plus the neutral, which is needed on TN-C-S or TT systems where the neutral must also be isolated, or for three-phase loads with a significant neutral current.
