ABB 1SAP373700R0001 (CM597-ETH-XC) is an AC500-XC communication module that gives the PLC two switched Ethernet ports running TCP/IP, UDP and Modbus TCP at up to 100 Mbit/s. The built-in switch lets the module daisy-chain to the next Ethernet device without a separate switch. Degree of protection is IP20.

Pick this module for a Modbus TCP link rather than PROFINET: it speaks raw TCP/IP, UDP and Modbus TCP, not the PROFINET IO stack that the CM579-PNIO-XC and CM589-PNIO-XC modules run. The two switched Ethernet ports mean one cable in from the network and one cable out to the next Ethernet node, so no additional switch is needed in the cabinet.
