With the ABB 1SAP372900R0011 (CM589-PNIO-XC) communication module fitted, an AC500-XC PLC becomes a PROFINET IO RT device that a separate PROFINET controller scans over the module's two switched Ethernet ports, running at up to 100 Mbit/s. The module's degree of protection is IP20, matching the other CM5xx-XC communication modules in this series.

Fit this module when the AC500-XC needs to report into another PLC's PROFINET controller as a subordinate device; if the AC500-XC itself must act as the controller scanning other PROFINET devices, the CM579-PNIO-XC module does that job instead. Hardware-wise the two are identical (2 switched Ethernet ports, 100 Mbit/s, IP20) — only the PROFINET role differs.
