Selection Notes

DI581-S covers safety digital inputs such as E-stop buttons, guard switches and light curtains, with the 8 pulse outputs enabling 1-wire line testing instead of needing a second wire back to the module. Running the module at SIL3 halves usable channels to 8, so the channel-count decision is a trade-off between safety integrity level and point count rather than a choice between models. Pick the DI581-S-XC variant instead when the cabinet will see temperatures outside normal indoor ranges.
