The ABB 1SAP240500R0001 (DC523) is an AC500 S500 digital I/O module with 24 channels configurable as inputs or outputs at 24 V DC 0.5 A, plus 4 auxiliary 0 V and 4 auxiliary 24 V DC terminals for powering field sensors directly from the module. With more configurable channels than the smaller sibling, it suits stations needing a higher discrete I/O count on one module.

Selection Notes

With 24 configurable DI/DO against the smaller sibling's 16, DC523 covers more discrete points per module when the station still needs the terminals' 4+4 auxiliary 0 V/24 V supply rather than a separate feed. Drop to the smaller variant instead when 16 channels are enough and rack space matters less than cost per channel.
