ABB's 1SAP224200R0001 (CI542-DP) is the digital-only PROFIBUS slave interface module in the S500 range, connecting over RS-485 and carrying 8 digital inputs, 8 digital outputs, and 8 configurable DI/DO points with no onboard analog channels. It chains with up to 10 additional S500 I/O modules, draws a 20.4-28.8 V DC supply, and is rated IP20.

Selection Notes

CI542-DP is the digital-only PROFIBUS version of this head-module family: 8 fixed DI, 8 fixed DO, and 8 configurable DI/DO over the RS-485 PROFIBUS port, with no onboard analog channels. It is the module to specify for a purely digital PROFIBUS DP station; where an analog signal needs to originate at the head module, the AI/AO-equipped PROFIBUS variant in this family handles that instead.
