The ABB TA5141-RS232I (order code 1SAP187300R0001) is a serial adapter option board for AC500-eCo PLCs. It adds an electrically isolated RS232 port on spring terminals, letting the CPU communicate with serial devices such as modems or point-to-point instruments while protecting the controller from ground-loop interference. The isolation barrier separates the RS232 signal reference from the CPU's own ground, which matters when the connected serial device sits on a different electrical ground.

Selection Notes

Pick the TA5141-RS232I when the serial link needs galvanic isolation between the CPU and the connected device, such as equipment on a different ground reference. For a non-isolated RS485 link instead, the TA5142-RS485 shares the same spring-terminal layout, and the TA5146-CN covers a CAN-bus connection. The board carries no analog or digital I/O channels of its own.
