CM592-DP adds PROFIBUS master capability to an AC500 CPU through a terminal base communication slot, so it suits applications where the AC500 needs to poll PROFIBUS slave devices rather than act as one. The single RS-485 port runs at up to 12 Mbit/s, which covers typical PROFIBUS DP segment lengths without extra repeaters. Choose this module over the CANopen counterpart when the plant's field devices are already standardized on PROFIBUS rather than CAN.
