The ABB 1SAP172200R0001 (CM582-DP) is an AC500 communication module that connects the CPU to a PROFIBUS network as a DPV0/V1 slave over a single RS485 interface at up to 12 Mbit/s. It plugs into the CPU's expansion bus, letting an upstream PROFIBUS master exchange process data with the AC500 program.

As a slave-only module, this card lets the AC500 answer a PROFIBUS master; it is not the module to pick when the AC500 itself needs to be the PROFIBUS master. The 12 Mbit/s ceiling and DPV0/V1 support cover standard cyclic and acyclic PROFIBUS DP traffic without extra configuration on the AC500 side.
