Selection Notes
Signal interface choice sets the achievable pulse rate: RS-422 symmetrical reaches 1 MHz, five times the 200 kHz ceiling of the 24 V asymmetrical or 5 V TTL interfaces, so select RS-422 for high-speed stepper axes and reserve 24 V asymmetrical for simpler drives or longer unshielded runs. Running all 4 channels simultaneously raises the minimum isochronous bus cycle from 250 to 375 microseconds, which affects how tightly the module's motion timing can be synchronized to the PROFINET network — account for that when only some channels are used versus a fully populated module.
