The ST (standard) module trades the HS module's fixed 62.5 microsecond cycle for multi-signal-type flexibility - voltage, current, RTD, and thermocouple on the same 4 channels - with parameterizable integration times from 2.5 to 100 ms that slow the measurement in exchange for the accuracy needed on RTD and thermocouple readings; pick the AI 8xU/I HS module instead when only voltage/current inputs are needed and fast oversampled sampling matters more than signal-type flexibility.
Applications
Temperature and process-value acquisition where a single module must mix RTD, thermocouple, and standard voltage/current signals - for example furnace or oven zone monitoring, or general process instrumentation on S7-1500.
