- Description
The Siemens PS407 (6ES7407-0KR02-0AA0) is a wide-range SIMATIC S7-400 power supply module that converts 120/230V AC or DC input into a regulated 5V DC backplane rail rated at 10A, plus a 24V DC output at 1A. It occupies two rack slots and includes short-circuit protection, with an optional lithium backup battery for buffered timekeeping during power loss.

Selection Notes
The 10A rating on the 5V DC backplane bus covers single-rack S7-400 stations built around one CPU 41x plus a moderate signal-module count; the bus draws no base load, so the full 10A is available to the rack. Configurations with denser I/O, redundant CPUs, or several communication processors that push backplane current past 10A need the 20A PS407 sibling instead. The 20 ms mains buffering time, NAMUR-compliant, lets the station ride through short supply dips without a CPU stop, and the wide-range 120/230V AC/DC input removes the need to select an input voltage range in the field.
