Selection Notes
The 8 supported thermocouple types (J, K, T, E, R, S, B, N) plus the raw +/-80mV voltage range let one signal board serve almost any thermocouple type a process specifies, with the type set per channel in software rather than by hardware selection. Cold-junction compensation accuracy of +/-1.5 degC sets the practical measurement floor - for tighter accuracy an external reference junction or RTD-based module is the better fit. As a Signal Board it consumes no extra CPU slot, mounting directly on the S7-1200 CPU faceplate, which matters when I/O real estate on a compact machine panel is already tight.
Applications
Direct temperature measurement on compact S7-1200 machines - oven, extruder, or drying-process temperature loops where adding a full analog input module isn't justified for just 4 channels.
