The HS (High Speed) variant supports isochronous mode down to a 125 microsecond bus cycle with 0.25 microsecond jitter, so it fits motion-adjacent decentralized I/O where a standard-speed interface module's longer cycle would not meet the timing budget. Multi-hot-swap lets individual I/O modules be replaced while the station stays in RUN, and shared device support for up to 4 IO controllers allows the 30 module slots to be split across separate PLCs.
