Selection Notes
Sink (NPN) switching pulls the load's low side to 0V while the field device stays permanently connected to 24V - pick the sourcing/PNP DQ 8x variant instead when downstream loads or PLC conventions expect the switched side on the positive rail. Each output's 1.5A typical short-circuit response threshold is three times its 0.5A rated current, giving margin for lamp or capacitive inrush without nuisance tripping, and the 4A total module limit means all eight channels can run near full rated current simultaneously. Two outputs can be paralleled for redundant control of one load, useful where a single output failure must not drop a critical actuator.
Applications
Drives 24V DC loads such as PLC indicator lamps, small solenoid valves, and interposing relay coils from an ET 200SP station, with per-channel short-circuit protection so one shorted output does not take down the other seven.
