Schneider Electric XPSMCMER0004 Modicon MCM 4 Safety Relay Output Expansion Module 6 A Safety PLC

The Schneider Electric XPSMCMER0004 is a Modicon MCM safe relay output expansion module with 4 guided-contact safety relay outputs (2 NO + 1 NC per output, rated 6 A) and 2 start/restart interlock inputs. It reaches category 4, PLe per ISO 13849-1 and SIL 3 per IEC 61508. Unlike the backplane I/O modules, it wires directly to the selected OSSD and needs no expansion bus connector.

Choose the XPSMCMER0004 when the downstream equipment needs volt-free relay contacts rather than the solid-state OSSD outputs of the XPSMCMDO0004 — its 4 NO + 2 NC contact set and 6 A switching current suit direct wiring into contactor coils or legacy drive interlocks that expect a dry contact. It hard-wires to the selected OSSD without a backplane expansion connector, so it can sit physically apart from the XPSMCM base unit. Against the XPSMCMRO0004DA, pick this variant when diagnostic status outputs are not needed and a simpler, lower-cost relay module is sufficient.
