- Description
The Schneider Electric XPSMCMEN0200 is a Modicon MCM safe speed monitoring expansion module with 2 inductive proximity sensor inputs wired via terminal blocks, running at up to 5 kHz input frequency. It reaches category 4, PLe per ISO 13849-1 and Type 4 per IEC 61496-1. The module expands an XPSMCM safety controller over the backplane bus and cannot work stand-alone.

Selection Notes
Choose the XPSMCMEN0200 over the XPSMCMEN0100SC when the machine uses simple inductive proximity switches on a shaft or pulley instead of a Sin/Cos encoder — it skips the RJ45 encoder channel entirely and wires both sensors straight to terminal blocks, which is faster to commission on retrofits. Its 5 kHz input frequency matches the proximity-sensor side of its sibling module, so the same speed-threshold logic in SoSafe Configurable applies. It fits band-saw, circular-saw and grinding applications where a guard only needs to unlock once a tooth or blade has coasted below a set speed.
