The Schneider Electric XPSMCMDI0800 is a Modicon MCM safe input expansion module with 8 digital safety inputs and 4 test outputs, wired through captive screw-clamp terminals at 24 V DC. It connects to an XPSMCM safety controller over the backplane expansion bus to add input capacity and cannot operate stand-alone. Each input has configurable filtering and delay for functions such as emergency stop and guard monitoring.

Selection Notes

The XPSMCMDI0800 adds 8 safe digital inputs to an XPSMCM controller over the backplane bus; it expands an existing Modicon MCM safety controller CPU and cannot run stand-alone. Pick the 16-input variant instead when a machine needs more input points per module, or the safety-mat-specific 12-input variant when those inputs are monitoring 4-wire safety mats - all three share the same Category 4 / PL e and SILCL 3 rating as this module. Up to 14 input, output or diagnostic modules can share one backplane with the controller CPU, so an 8-input module is the right starting point when a cell's I/O count is still growing.
