Configuration runs through EcoStruxure Machine Expert software loaded via the Mini USB port, and the unit reaches Category 4 / PL e per ISO 13849-1 and SILCL 3 per IEC 62061 stand-alone, with no external safety relay needed. Where a machine needs more than 8 inputs or 2 output pairs, add up to 14 expansion modules over the backplane bus - input modules, output modules, or non-safe diagnostic modules for CANopen, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP or Modbus TCP/IP - instead of stepping up to the 4-output controller variant, which only makes sense when the base CPU itself needs more than 2 output pairs.

Applications

The XPSMCMCP0802 fits machines with a single safety zone - one emergency-stop circuit, one guard door or one light curtain feeding two independent output pairs to a contactor or drive enable - where a larger multi-zone controller would be unnecessary.
